Cártel Nuevo Imperio leader Edgar Aarón “N”, Digi Mart USA News (Mexico): Edgar Aarón “N”, known as “El General” or “El Lic,” was killed during an operation by Mexico’s Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC) to execute an arrest warrant against him for organized crime. He was identified as the founder and leader of the Cártel Nuevo Imperio.
Secretary of Security and Citizen Protection Omar García Harfuch said federal agents came under gunfire while trying to serve the judicial order and responded to the attack. Edgar Aarón “N” died during the exchange of fire.
Authorities had been investigating the alleged criminal leader for possible involvement in kidnapping, extortion, homicide, dispossession, money laundering, fuel theft and drug trafficking to the United States and Canada. The cartel was reported to have operations in the State of Mexico, Morelos and Mexico City.
According to the source, the Secretariat said investigators link him to the killing of Milton Morales Figueroa, a security official who died in an armed attack on July 21, 2024. The statement said the investigations identify him as the intellectual author of that homicide, and authorities pledged to pursue all those responsible.
On November 19, 2025, the U.S. Department of the Treasury sanctioned Edgar Aarón “N,” alleging he provided protection in Mexico to Ryan James Wedding, a former Canadian Olympic athlete linked to an international drug trafficking organization.
U.S. authorities said he used contacts within police forces to locate targets for his criminal organization.
Federal authorities said they will continue investigations to locate other alleged members of the Cártel Nuevo Imperio and identify the criminal networks linked to its operations.
