2026 U.S. Midterm Elections, Digi Mart USA News: The United States is holding its 2026 midterm elections on Tuesday, November 3, and polling stations have already opened in some states, according to a report from La Razón of Mexico. Midterm elections take place every two years, at the midpoint of a presidential term, and allow citizens to renew their representatives in Congress without electing a new president.
According to the Federal Election Commission (FEC), the general federal election is scheduled for November 3. Democrats enter the 2026 midterms with a chance to regain control of Congress, the report said.
Polls give Democrats an advantage in the House of Representatives and show a close competition for the Senate. A New York Times and Siena College poll published the previous day places Democrats ahead in six of seven Senate races: Michigan, Texas, Maine, Ohio, Kansas and Alaska.
The poll shows no defined trend in Iowa. Of those seats, only the Michigan seat is currently held by the opposition.
To regain the Senate, Democrats would need to hold their current seats and win at least four seats held by Republicans, the report said.
