Réparer les vivants France 4 film ending explained, Digi Mart USA News: France 4 broadcasts Réparer les vivants, directed by Katell Quillévéré, on Thursday, November 5, 2026, at 9 p.m. The ending connects Simon’s death with the heart transplant received by Claire and opens a reflection on lives that go on after a loss.

This article contains spoilers that reveal the film’s ending.

In the story, Simon is injured in a road accident after a surfing outing. He is taken to hospital in Le Havre and declared brain dead.

Machines keep his body alive in appearance, but the diagnosis given to his parents is irreversible. This means Simon is already dead when organ donation is raised, so the organ removal does not cause his death.

The film confronts his relatives with the painful gap between that diagnosis and their son’s body, still present before them. Marianne and Vincent, Simon’s parents, accept the donation.

Thomas Rémige, the coordinating nurse played by Tahar Rahim, supports them through this process.

A chain of medical professionals then carries out the organ removal, transports the heart and performs the transplant in Paris. The journey begins in Le Havre, where Simon’s story is rooted, and reaches a woman whom his family does not know.

The heart is received by Claire, who is seriously ill with heart disease and is played by Anne Dorval.

Before the operation, the film gives Claire a life of her own: she has two sons and reunites with Anne Guérande, the woman she loves. The transplanted heart begins to beat again.

Claire then opens her eyes and smiles in a light that illuminates her face.

The final image suggests a new beginning for Claire, while the loss remains for Simon’s family. The film does not show Claire’s later years and does not promise a future free of hardship.

The title can be read both literally, through the transplant, and as an attention to those who remain behind, including grieving parents and the recipient’s circle.

Gabin Verdet plays Simon, Anne Dorval plays Claire, and Emmanuelle Seigner and Kool Shen play Marianne and Vincent. The film is an adaptation of the novel by Maylis de Kerangal.
