Hungary vs Slovenia ice hockey match Amiens November 2026, Digi Mart USA News (Amiens, France): Hungary announced its bid to host the 2031 World Championship in Budapest 21 days earlier, at the same time as the opening match of its Nations Cup game in Amiens. Hungary is bidding alone, not as a co-host with Slovenia, and it has put forward Budapest as its only host city, with two arenas seating 18,000 and 10,000.
Hungary’s team was missing several players, as Edo Terglav had to withdraw five players from the young squad he originally selected, including two who play in France’s Division 1. Goalkeeper Luka Kolin and defenseman Tian Hebar stayed with their clubs, while Maks Perčič, Miha Beričič and Mark Sever also withdrew.
Bence Horváth opened the scoring for Hungary on a power play at 5:16 of the first period, and Gábor Tornyai made it 2-0 at 5:49. Žan Jezovšek reduced the deficit before the first intermission, and Jan Ćosić tied the game in the second period.
Matic Török scored the decisive goal with eight minutes left, after a solo rush past the Hungarian defense. Borna Kopač and Nik Christian Petrović added two more goals within minutes, both in their first international games for Slovenia.
The final score was Slovenia 5, Hungary 2.
Slovenia now faces France in their next match. The result gave Slovenia confidence before the rematch against France, which was relegated from the top division in May 2025 after losing to Slovenia.
