Antonio Turco Mohamed Toluca América comments, Digi Mart USA News: Antonio “Turco” Mohamed spoke with irony about the recent draw between Diablos Toluca and Club América, emphasizing that he has nothing against the team coached by Guillermo Almada and that, on the contrary, he has won “four titles” thanks to the Azulcremas.

Relations between the teams heated up after the América coach said that the two goals scored by the visiting side were full of controversy. Mohamed responded that the home side had been in controversy over the “10 foreigners” it has fielded during the tournament.

Days later, Mohamed said his words were not a direct signal aimed at América or its coach, whom he respects greatly. He explained they were only a response to a question asked at the post-match press conference, and that his comments were misinterpreted.

Mohamed identified the four titles he won thanks to América. The first was the 2014 Liga MX championship, when he coached the Azulcremas.

After leaving Coapa, however, the relationship did not end well, and in the final of the Apertura 2019 he took the trophy from América on the bench of Monterrey’s Rayados.

After becoming Toluca’s coach, Mohamed also defeated América on two further occasions. The first was the final of the Apertura 2025, when his side prevented América’s fourth title, and the second was the Campeón de Campeones that same year.

“I have nothing against América; on the contrary, I am eternally grateful. They gave me four titles, so imagine if I’m not going to be grateful.

So I am very, very grateful and always will be grateful,” the coach said at the press conference.

Toluca also rejected seeking sanctions against América after controversy over the jersey number of Ícaro da Conceição. At the start of the Apertura 2026, the Brazilian wore number 27, but was later registered with number 217, raising speculation about a possible irregularity in América’s records.

Mohamed said neither he nor Toluca seeks any sanction. Liga MX clarified that the use of both numbers is authorized, as the paperwork was done correctly so the player could wear number 217 in the Under-17 category.
