Port-Vendres Toussaint floral tribute by Souvenir Français local committee, Digi Mart USA News (Port-Vendres, France): On the occasion of Toussaint, November 1, the Souvenir Français committee of Port-Vendres paid tribute to all those who died for France, as well as those who fought to defend our freedom.
For the occasion, committee members carefully prepared more than twenty-five small bouquets of flowers. These were then placed on the graves of the soldiers and fighters to whom the community owes so much.
Through this simple but respectful and emotional gesture, the committee aims to keep alive the memory of the men and women who sacrificed their lives so that people today can live in freedom. Remembrance, the committee said, means honoring their courage, commitment and sacrifice.
It also means passing on to future generations the importance of never forgetting the nation’s history. “In Port-Vendres, the duty of memory remains very much alive,” the committee stated.
The message was delivered by Marie-José Chiajese, president of the Port-Vendres committee.
