Osny shopping center parking caravans and merchant losses, Digi Mart USA News (Osny, Val-d’Oise, France): Caravans from the traveler community regularly occupy the parking lot of the L’Oseraie shopping center in Osny, in the Val-d’Oise department. Merchants say the occupation is causing significant drops in revenue.
Dozens of garbage bags are piling up in shopping carts. “There’s even a printer,” complained Carole, a customer of the L’Oseraie shopping center, pointing to the machine lying in the grass.
“Sometimes we found washing machines!”
For several years, part of the parking area of the commercial zone has been regularly occupied by about one hundred caravans from the traveler community. According to regular visitors, the groups have been evicted more than twenty times since March.
“They always come back,” Carole said.
The town hall plans to bring together the owners of the property and the retailers to secure the site, which is privately owned. The Le Parisien report is based on the publisher’s reporting and has not been independently verified.
