Météo France Mediterranean rain alert November 4 2026, Digi Mart USA News (France): A rain episode is expected to set in across Mediterranean regions on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, which Météo France says could be locally significant, according to its 4 p.m. bulletin.
The strongest storms are expected to remain at sea and affect only marginally the departments of Bouches-du-Rhône, Gard and Hérault, though their exact location remains uncertain.
Météo France warned that if the storms tend to move back toward the coast of these departments, the vigilance level could be raised. Five departments are currently under yellow vigilance for rain-flooding, storms and/or wind: Hérault, Gard, Bouches-du-Rhône, Haute-Corse and Corse-du-Sud.
After a largely calm and cool start to the week, locally heavy rain is affecting the Mediterranean periphery between Wednesday and Thursday. Temperatures are cool and below seasonal norms.
Forecasts indicate that on Wednesday, November 4, rains that are sometimes stormy will move up from the Mediterranean, mainly affecting Languedoc and spreading toward Auvergne and Limousin. Easterly winds will blow fairly strongly near the Mediterranean coast.
Expected accumulations are generally 30 to 50 mm from Roussillon to Provence, and locally 70 to 90 mm on the coast of Hérault and Gard. For Thursday, November 5, forecasts call for intensified rain around the Gulf of Lion, with easterly to southeasterly winds still fairly strong.
Totals could reach 50 to 70 mm, locally 150 mm, in Hérault and Gard.
These rains may fall on soils already saturated by previous episodes of intense rainfall and could cause flooding.
