When Mexican Workers Can Expect Their 2026 Aguinaldo Year-End Bonus

Mexico aguinaldo 2026 payment dates: Workers' year-end bonus timing depends on their employer and whether they are covered by the Federal Labor Law or government employment rules. Pensioners and some public employees may receive payments starting November 10, while private-sector workers are generally owed payment by December 20.

Mexico aguinaldo 2026 payment dates, Digi Mart USA News (Mexico): The year-end bonus known as the aguinaldo is approaching, and many workers are asking when it should be paid. According to the publisher’s report, the timing depends largely on where a person works, so the payment date is not the same for everyone.

For IMSS pensioners who meet their regime’s requirements, and for some ISSSTE pensioners and retirees, the aguinaldo may be deposited starting November 10. The report cites a decree published October 23 that allows payment from that date, but it does not require every beneficiary to be paid on that day.

Federal government employees may also receive the bonus starting November 10, according to a decree published in the Diario Oficial de la Federación. The report notes that this is the earliest date payment is permitted, not a date on which payment must occur.

Groups covered include workers governed by the Federal Law for State Employees, operational, trust, liaison and command personnel, active-duty military personnel, Mexican Foreign Service staff, and pensioners and retirement beneficiaries covered by the decree.

Workers governed by the Federal Labor Law, mainly in the private sector, fall under a different timeline. The report says Article 87 requires the aguinaldo to be paid before December 20 and equal at least 15 days of salary for one year of service.

This includes trust, temporary, and project-based or fixed-term contract workers where an employment relationship exists.

The report also notes that employees who leave their jobs before year-end are still entitled to a proportional share of the aguinaldo based on the time worked. Readers should check their employment regime and employer policies to determine their specific payment schedule.
