Morten Eskesen FC Midtjylland assistant coach resignation, Digi Mart USA News: FC Midtjylland assistant coach Morten Eskesen was a topic of interest at Sønderjyske over the summer and is again being mentioned as a possible replacement for the recently dismissed Fatah Abdirahman.
Viaplay reporter Søren Frederiksen reported new information about Eskesen’s situation during the Silkeborg versus Lyngby match on Friday evening, when the outlet also covered Sønderjyske’s dismissal of Abdirahman.
According to Frederiksen, Eskesen had already resigned from his post at the club during the summer and is set to leave FC Midtjylland next summer. Frederiksen said that Sønderjyske had held talks with Eskesen, then FC Midtjylland’s set-piece coach, during the summer and had been interested in hiring him.
Frederiksen stated that Eskesen terminated his agreement with FC Midtjylland but has a one-year notice period, meaning it takes a long time to exit such an agreement. He said Eskesen had been unable to reach an agreement with FC Midtjylland that would allow him to leave for Sønderjyske.
Eskesen later moved from set-piece coach to assistant coach under Mike Tullberg, Frederiksen said. “But it is an agreement he has terminated, and that notice period is running until the summer,” Frederiksen said.
Tipsbladet contacted FC Midtjylland, which declined to comment.
The 58-year-old Eskesen has previously served as head coach of FC Helsingør and has worked with several Danish youth national teams. He has been affiliated with FC Midtjylland since 2025, first as set-piece coach and later as assistant coach, after the club signed Michael Ravn from Randers as set-piece coach in the summer.
