Pons France teen girl suicide after reporting rape investigation, Digi Mart USA News (Pons, Charente-Maritime, France): A 12-year-old middle school student named Jade died by suicide on Saturday, October 31, 2026, at her family home in Pons, in the Charente-Maritime region of France. Her father discovered her body.
The prosecutor’s office in Saintes opened a judicial investigation for rape on Wednesday, November 4.
Prosecutor Benjamin Alla detailed the evidence gathered since January. He said investigations show that on three occasions between October and December 2025, Jade and the 16-year-old minor under investigation met, and that sexual relations occurred during those meetings.
Jade described the encounters as imposed, while the 16-year-old, who attends school in the same town, described them as consensual.
Alla also described Jade’s condition. A psychological examination showed she was fragile and expressed a broader sense of distress beyond the events she reported.
She was receiving psychological follow-up and showed clear signs of unease.
The case took a judicial turn after the teenager confided in an educator, who had heard a rumor naming him as a rapist. The prosecutor’s office stated that he was also the victim of violence, resulting in 10 days of total incapacity to work, including a bone avulsion in the arm, apparently in retaliation by people connected to Jade’s family.
The prosecutor asked a victim support association to assist the family. The association announced a white march for Wednesday, November 11, at 1 p.m., at the Pons donjon.
