Fulham vs Newcastle Premier League match preview, Digi Mart USA News: Matthias Jaissle has challenged his Newcastle players to rediscover their bravery ahead of a high-stakes trip to Fulham.
After a positive start to life under the German, the Magpies have lost four of their last five games, and they were booed by their own fans following a limp 1-0 loss to Everton on Monday.
Jaissle told a press conference: “At the beginning of the season there was this confidence, this bravery, this mindset, a little bit of ‘I have nothing to lose.’ It was easy. When you have the ball and you can shine, you’re a bit more brave.”
“When you lack a little bit of confidence, then in particular when you have the ball, you feel it. It’s a bit more heavy, not that fluent any more, and we need to work on that.”
“Clearly we as a coaching team, myself as I’m the responsible guy, need to give them clear guidance, clear principles, but these principles are also only a framework, and within that framework our players are still football players, not machines. So the decision making is on them on the pitch.”
“Getting that confidence back, getting that braveness back to play our style is what we want. To have a good result, to have then again a good feeling until the next match, when a lot of guys are with the national team.
So I’m looking forward to seeing the right reaction against Fulham.”
