Mexico State pothole repair program 300 million pesos, Digi Mart USA News (Toluca, Mexico State): Governor Delfina Gómez Álvarez launched the Road Rescue Pothole Repair Program, which will receive an investment of 300 million pesos to repair 275,000 square meters of streets and roads during November and December 2026. The program is expected to benefit more than 4.5 million residents of the State of Mexico.
The program was launched on Leona Vicario Street in Toluca, where the state governor said restoring roadways responds to one of the main demands from citizens and is part of commitments set out in her Third Government Report. “As an act of social justice and fulfilling what I said in my Third Government Report, we continue working to improve our roads,” she said.
The area to be repaired is roughly equivalent to 39 professional soccer fields, and the work will be distributed across different points in the state through the five residencies of the State of Mexico Roads Board. Of the total budget, 60 million pesos will be allocated to the Toluca Valley, where more than 1.7 million people are expected to benefit.
Within the framing of “2026, Year of Public Works in EdoMéx,” Gómez called on municipal authorities to contribute resources to expand maintenance and street, avenue and highway recovery efforts. She also proposed re-paving the section of Leona Vicario Street where the program began.
The governor reported that, despite an intense rainy season, more than 400 kilometers of highways and roads have been rehabilitated and re-paved during 2026. In the Toluca Valley, 2.8 kilometers of Alfredo del Mazo Avenue, 39.7 kilometers of the La Marquesa-Tenango highway and Airport Boulevard were also addressed.
Gómez said interventions will soon take place on Salvador Díaz Mirón and Tecnológico avenues, the Puente Grande-Las Ánimas road and the Metepec-Zacango highway. Regarding the Toluca-Palmillas highway, she indicated that re-paving work is under consideration.
The governor also acknowledged support from Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, who during her visit to the State of Mexico on September 18 committed to advancing the improvement of state streets. She also asked drivers to take precautions due to temporary road closures that may occur during the work.
“These results are possible when the people’s resources are placed at the service of the people and when the governments of Mexico, the State of Mexico and the municipalities work together, great progress can be achieved,” she stated.
Attending the program launch were Héctor Macedo García, president of the State Superior Court of Justice; Horacio Duarte Olivares, secretary general of government; Juan Hugo de la Rosa García, secretary of mobility; Mónica Chávez Durán, chief administrative officer; Joel González Toral, director general of the Roads Board; and Ricardo Moreno Bastida, municipal president of Toluca.
