CFE Cold Front 4 power outage alert, Digi Mart USA News (Mexico): Ahead of the possible effects of Cold Front Number 4, the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE) has activated a preventive alert and is maintaining permanent monitoring of weather conditions and electrical infrastructure to avoid interruptions in the power supply.
The company reported that it has launched supervision and maintenance work at its facilities, and has prepared personnel, vehicles and emergency equipment to respond to any contingency that could affect service. Although these measures aim to reduce the risk of electrical failures, the CFE has not announced scheduled blackouts due to the passage of the frontal system.
The commission said the operation is preventive, intended to respond promptly to possible damage to distribution and transmission networks. So far, the CFE’s notice refers to prevention and monitoring work, not a widespread suspension of electricity supply.
Adverse weather conditions can cause infrastructure damage, especially when strong winds, falling trees or objects onto power lines, and difficulties accessing affected areas occur. For this reason, the commission is maintaining inspections and patrols to identify possible risks before they cause service interruptions.
As part of the operation, the state-owned utility reported that 3,183 electricians are available to respond to possible disruptions in electricity supply. Personnel are backed by vehicles, tools and emergency equipment distributed at strategic points.
The deployment includes advance preparation to facilitate crew mobilization and reduce risks related to damaged roads, logistical problems or access restrictions.
The commission said it is coordinating with various agencies through the National System of Civil Protection to respond to any emergency arising from weather conditions. Participating institutions include the Secretariat of National Defense, the Secretariat of the Navy, the National Water Commission and the Secretariat of Health, as well as state and municipal governments.
The objective is to respond promptly to possible damage to electrical infrastructure and to ensure service continuity for users. For now, activation of this preventive alert does not mean blackouts will occur across the country.
The CFE is maintaining monitoring and preparation of its crews for possible disruptions that Cold Front 4 may cause.
