Omar García Harfuch security strategy Sheinbaum, Digi Mart USA News (Mexico): President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo’s daily monitoring is the decisive factor in advances under the National Security Strategy, according to Omar García Harfuch, head of the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC). He explained how coordination works among the country’s different law enforcement forces.
Morning meetings of the Security Cabinet allow immediate decisions to be made to combat crime. Each morning, authorities review reports and crime figures for every state.
According to the source, this model makes it possible to adjust operational actions in real time and closely monitor progress toward targets set for each region.
According to information shared by the SSPC, the current strategy rests on four pillars to reduce violence:
Addressing social causes to keep people away from crime.
Consolidating the National Guard within the citizen protection framework.
Strengthening intelligence and investigation to anticipate and disrupt crimes.
Direct coordination among federal authorities, state governments and prosecutors’ offices.
The current approach replicates the model previously implemented in Mexico City. During her administration in the capital, the security team applied the same daily evaluation scheme, which is now being extended nationally to continuously measure results on high-impact crimes such as intentional homicide and kidnapping.
