Franco Colapinto, USA News: Argentine driver Franco Colapinto faced sanctions from the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile following the Mexico Grand Prix, the 19th round of the Formula 1 World Championship held this afternoon. The driver had originally crossed the finish line in eighth place on the track.

Colapinto received a 10-second time penalty and one penalty point on his Superlicence for failing to respect yellow flags. A similar penalty befell his teammate Pierre Gasly, who received a stop-and-go penalty equivalent to a 30-second time penalty.

Due to these decisions, Colapinto, who had initially finished eighth, dropped to 15th position. Gasly, who had originally finished 10th, fell to 17th place. Consequently, both drivers moved out of the top ten, leaving Alpine without any championship points from the event.

The announcement followed earlier developments indicating that the driver from Pilar had temporarily gained a position to seventh following a penalty given to McLaren driver Oscar Piastri.
