Flying Tiger Mexico expansion, Digi Mart USA News (Mexico): Flying Tiger Copenhagen, a Danish chain of stores selling design products, decor, household items, gifts and everyday goods, will invest about $30 million in Mexico over the next five years to open more than 100 stores. The retailer currently has a presence in 45 countries.
The company will open its first five stores during the first two weeks of November in Mexico City and the Valley of Mexico. The locations will be Plaza Carso, Galerías Toluca, Town Square Metepec, Centro Comercial Santa Fe and Fashion Mall Tlalnepantla, according to Jacobo Hamui Mizrahi, general director of Rally Total in Mexico, the company leading the brand’s arrival and operation in the country, in an interview.
By 2027, the plan calls for opening between 20 and 25 more stores, bringing the total to about 30 locations by the end of that year. In the following years, the company will continue expanding in other cities across the country, including Guadalajara and Monterrey, where it is already evaluating locations.
Over five years of growth, the company anticipates generating 600 new jobs.
“The idea is to keep opening stores throughout the Mexican Republic, because in Flying Drive we see a very large market with a lot of opportunity, with good population growth, which Europe and other markets where it is expanding do not have,” Hamui Mizrahi said.
He noted that the brand has an important international expansion plan, and that Mexico is one of the most important countries for Flying Tiger’s expansion in Latin America. Within five years, the company aims to reach an operating size similar to its operations in Spain and Italy, markets where it operates more than 100 stores.
The year-end holiday season will be important for the launch in Mexico, representing about 30% of the brand’s annual sales in other markets. For that reason, the company intends to use the period to introduce its products to consumers.
Hamui Mizrahi explained that one of Flying Tiger’s differentiators is that its products are its own designs, and its offering complements what is currently available in the Mexican market. “We come to add, I don’t see it as direct competition.
Flying Tiger has a different design from what is on offer today. In the end, everything is our own design, everything is designed in Denmark.
These are products that are quite carefully made in terms of sustainability,” he said, when asked about competition from other chains such as Miniso.
Regarding operations, the company currently works with a third-party logistics network but plans to install its own distribution center in Mexico during the next year. Products will arrive in Mexico already manufactured, and local production is not currently planned.
The company also plans to launch its e-commerce channel during 2027, although physical stores will remain important to the brand.
Hamui Mizrahi added that the company is optimistic about the project and believes there is an opportunity in the segment its offering targets in Mexico.
