Culiacán prison inmate death, Digi Mart USA News (Culiacán, Sinaloa, Mexico): Another inmate of the Culiacán penitentiary reportedly died presumably due to health problems. This is the second case at that prison within a period of 15 days, prompting judicial authorities to receive notification of the event.
The Public Security Secretariat of the State of Sinaloa reported in a brief statement the death of a person deprived of liberty who experienced health complications and died. The agency said personnel found the inmate lifeless in his cell but did not provide further details.
In the statement, the agency said that, preliminarily, it presumes the death occurred due to a health problem. It notified the State Attorney General’s Office so that it could perform the legally required autopsy and determine the causes of death.
The secretariat also reported that Social Work personnel of the Prison Center’s administration notified relatives of the death so they could arrange the claim of the body.
On October 20, the State Attorney General’s Office opened an investigation to determine the causes of the death of another inmate at the Culiacán penitentiary, identified as Fabián “N”. Guards found that man lifeless in his cell, presumably due to a possible acute myocardial infarction.
