Copenhagen unbeaten Conference League Rodrigo Huescas benched, Digi Mart USA News: Copenhagen remained unbeaten in the 2026-2027 Conference League after defeating Georgia’s Iberia Tbilisi 2-1 in Matchday 3 of the League Phase, played Thursday at Parken Stadion in Denmark. The Danish side earned its second win of the tournament, although it struggled more than expected to secure the three points.
Mexican player Rodrigo Huescas remained on the bench for the full 90 minutes and did not take part in a match for the first time in the current European campaign. The full-back had found in this competition the opportunity to return to the pitch after recovering from a long knee ligament rupture, and had even regained a starting place in the previous matchday.
Copenhagen appeared headed for a comfortable victory after settling much of the match within just three minutes. Mohamed Elyounoussi opened the scoring in the 19th minute, and in the 22nd minute a second goal came from an own goal by Vahid Selimović, who sent the ball into his own net.
However, the Georgian side responded and pulled a goal back in the 30th minute through Amiran Dzagania, a score that added drama to the contest.
In the second half, the match lost offensive clarity and physical intensity increased. Both teams played a contested match that ended with many fouls and six yellow cards, although the visitors created few chances to equalize.
With this result, Copenhagen reached seven points and remains among the top eight teams in the standings, while Iberia Tbilisi stays in the lower part of the table.
Copenhagen’s next European fixture will be on November 26, when it visits Inter Escaldes after the FIFA international break. Before that, in Matchday 14 of the Danish Superliga, it will face Brøndby IF on Sunday, November 8.
