Acapulco GNP Mexico Major Premier Padel 2026 tournament, Digi Mart USA News (Acapulco, Guerrero, Mexico): Acapulco will once again host one of the most relevant sporting events on the international padel circuit with the GNP Mexico Major Premier Padel 2026. The tournament is expected to attract 35,000 attendees and generate an economic impact of more than 250 million pesos for the Guerrero resort.

According to information from the Secretariat of Tourism (Sectur), the competition will take place from November 23 to 29 at the GNP Seguros Arena and will bring together the 100 best players in the world rankings in both the men’s and women’s divisions. The event consolidates Mexico as the only venue in the Americas for one of the four Major tournaments on the international calendar of this sport.

During the event presentation, Tourism Secretary Josefina Rodriguez Zamora said sports tourism has become a tool to diversify the tourism offerings of destinations, attract visitors beyond traditional vacation seasons and generate economic activity in different regions of the country. She said Acapulco has found in sports and entertainment events a way to strengthen its economic recovery after the challenges it faced in recent years, which is why she considered it necessary to keep investing in international-scale events that encourage visitors.

According to projections released by the organizers, the tournament will be broadcast in 281 territories and will be available on platforms in more than 175 countries, with a potential audience of over 100 million viewers. Rodriguez Zamora also recalled that Acapulco holds a special place in the history of padel, as it was in this destination that Enrique Corcuera built the first padel court in 1969, a discipline now considered one of the fastest-growing sports worldwide.

Beyond the competition, the event seeks to use its international exposure to promote the port’s tourism offerings, including gastronomy, culture and recreational attractions. Rosa Guadalupe Pavon Flores, Guerrero’s Secretary of Tourism, said on behalf of the state government that the tournament will help strengthen the state’s positioning in the sports tourism segment and serve as a showcase for the diversity of attractions the state offers.

Jorge Mañe Rendon, president of the Mexican Padel Federation and general director of Premier Padel Mexico, said the Mexico Major is part of the most important group of competitions on the international circuit because of its sporting level, prize purse and concentration of elite players. He stressed that hosting the tournament represents an opportunity to consolidate Mexico’s presence within the global calendar of the discipline and reinforce the growth padel has experienced in recent years in the country and worldwide.

The expected attendance and economic impact once again position sports tourism as one of the segments with the greatest potential for destinations such as Acapulco, which seek to expand tourism activity throughout the year through events capable of attracting domestic and international visitors and generating global exposure for the destination brand.
