Zinédine Zidane Esteban Lepaul injury, Digi Mart USA News: Zinédine Zidane is set to announce his second France squad list on Friday, one month after his first gathering as national team coach. The list will name the players he will rely on for the new round of UEFA Nations League matches, and several players are already known to be missing.
Maxence Lacroix, Manu Konté and Ousmane Dembélé will watch the France team from home, as their physical condition does not allow them to be available. Esteban Lepaul is also expected to miss the squad, with the latest reports described as quite serious.
Lepaul suffered a sprain on October 18 while Stade Rennais was playing away at Paris FC, and he has been recovering since then. Healing in his left ankle is taking the time it needs, and the timing is expected to be too tight for him to join the France squad.
The Rennes striker has not played for two weeks and will not be available to Franck Haise for Wednesday’s Europa League match against Olympiakos at 4:30 p.m. Quoted by RMC, Rennes coach Haise was blunt on the matter: “He does not train with me and I have not seen him touch the ball.
[…] That is not very good news, but I am not always with him.”
According to the outlet, a return for Lepaul could still be possible during the upcoming international break. Lepaul was called up to the France squad for the first time last September and started twice under Zidane.
Zidane will have to choose another option in the next few days.
