Gironde wildfire France Services adviser for affected residents of seven communes, Digi Mart USA News (Gironde, France): A dedicated France Services adviser will support residents of seven communes affected by the summer fire in the Gironde department: Saumos, Le Temple, Le Porge, Lanton, Arès, Lège-Cap-Ferret and Andernos-les-Bains. The support is available to affected residents even when they still have procedures to complete months after evacuation or returning home.
The adviser can also contact affected people directly. The fire has been extinguished since the end of September, but its toll explains why procedures are taking so long.
According to the latest figures released by the prefecture, 37,296 hectares were destroyed and 252 houses or buildings were destroyed. During the fire, nearly 224,000 people were evacuated from 23 communes.
Beyond material losses, residents face insurance claims, housing questions and, in some cases, work subject to urban planning rules. Each situation moves at its own pace, and one administrative response does not necessarily resolve the others.
In August, a France Services Victims reception point was set up in Le Porge. In September, the state announced a reinforcement of the France Services bus of the Médullienne to follow residents over the longer term.
The dedicated adviser now puts that reinforcement into practice, moving from emergency reception to regular office hours.
A France Services office usually helps with tax, health insurance and family benefit procedures. Here the mission is broader.
The adviser can help residents with insurance and rehousing questions, as well as health, schooling and urban planning matters. The adviser does not replace the insurer or the agencies that make decisions; the role is to help residents assemble, understand and advance their requests.
Procedures can overlap: temporary housing, care, school, work authorizations and documents requested by the insurer. For home insurance, useful supporting documents after a fire include photos, invoices and quotes.
The adviser helps identify the right service and prepare a file suited to each situation.
Tax questions also have specific support. Public Finance services mobilized for fire victims indicate that payment deadlines, deferrals or tax reliefs can be considered.
This is not an automatic cancellation of taxes; requests are examined individually, and the adviser can direct residents to the competent service.
The schedule provides a presence on Monday at the Saumos town hall, Tuesday and Thursday at the Le Porge CCAS, Wednesday at the Le Temple town hall, and Friday at the Maison des associations in Lanton. These sessions are announced with or without appointment.
They bring support closer to the affected communes, without limiting the service to residents of the four towns hosting a session.
A dedicated phone number and email address are available for this support: 06 26 45 58 28 and franceservices.sinistres@cdcmedullienne.fr. Sessions can be attended with or without appointment.
Because hours may change, calling before travelling allows residents to confirm the time slot and gather the documents relevant to their situation.
