Avast Launches Free VPN in France, Digi Mart USA News: Avast has launched a new free VPN offer in France. The publisher says the service provides unlimited data, no advertising, and the ability to protect as many devices as needed, with no credit card or subscription required.

Free VPNs are common, but they usually involve some trade-offs in data volume, device limits or server choice. Avast aims to relax the first two restrictions with the new plan, available starting today in France on Windows, macOS, Android and iOS.

According to the publisher, the service offers unlimited traffic and as many protected devices as desired from a single account, with no third-party advertising and no payment card required.

Technically, Avast VPN is built on WireGuard, a protocol that is now widely used, and includes the protections expected from this type of service. The kill switch cuts the Internet connection if the VPN tunnel drops, while DNS leak protection keeps domain name resolution requests from leaving the tunnel.

Avast also claims a no-logs policy, meaning it does not retain browsing history or sell activity data. An independent audit of this policy, entrusted to VerSprite, is planned for November 2026.

The free offer does, however, come with restrictions on server choice. While Avast’s infrastructure covers 40 countries, only three locations are accessible under this plan.

Users who want more destinations or advanced privacy features will need to upgrade to Avast Premium VPN, the publisher’s paid offering.

Avast is entering a market that already includes several attractive free options. Proton VPN has long offered unlimited data but allows only one connection at a time.

Windscribe allows an unlimited number of devices and provides access to ten countries, but caps usage at 10 GB per month after email validation. By combining unlimited traffic with no device restrictions, Avast is seeking to stand out from these two competitors, even though it offers a more limited choice of destinations.
