SønderjyskE dismisses head coach Fatah Abdirahman, Digi Mart USA News: Fatah Abdirahman has been fired as head coach of Danish club SønderjyskE on Friday evening after five months and just 13 Superliga matches in charge.
B.T. sports editor Lasse Vøge calls the decision “brutal.” According to Vøge, Abdirahman had to say goodbye to four players from last season’s squad, which finished sixth, during the summer.
“It is a very brutal industry. Fatah Abdirahman was sold by the sporting management in the summer transfer window, when most of Sønderjyske’s football quality was sold to competing clubs.
Of course, clubs like Sønderjyske always have to look at the finances, but it was too drastic a sale,” Vøge said.
“Now it is Fatah who has to pay the price for that. It is really a shame for a young head coach,” the B.T.
sports director said.
On the other hand, it is a fact that Abdirahman’s record under his leadership includes only two wins, and one of them came against Silkeborg, a team that received a very early red card.
“Conversely, it would also be irresponsible of the management not to do something to try to steer the ship out of its disastrous course. They cannot just sit and watch the house burn, even though they themselves have doused the cabin with petrol,” Vøge said, adding:
“The firing is a desperate management solution — it will be interesting to see whether it proves to be right, or whether it is yet another misjudgment.”
It is not yet clear who will take over at the club from Haderslev, which sits at the bottom of the table with eight points.
