DJ Steve Aoki card shop in Canton of Zug, Switzerland, Digi Mart USA News (Canton of Zug, Switzerland): DJ Steve Aoki is a passionate collector of cards, and he is now turning his hobby into a business by opening a shop for collectible cards such as Pokémon, Yu-Gi-Oh! and sports cards.
He announced the plan in a TikTok video.
Under his brand Aoki’s Cardhouse, he is already active as a professional buyer and seller. He regularly opens original-packaged card sets before audiences on his social media channels, a trend that has been circulating for some time.
He is now working with PSA, a company specializing in collectible cards, according to Fazemag.de, which reported that he had already given the company more than 35,000 cards for storage last year.
The collection includes rare first-edition Pokémon cards as well as cards of sports stars such as Michael Jordan. The Cardhouse Switzerland GmbH is already registered in the commercial register.
In tax-friendly Zug, the DJ plans a meeting point for the collector community, where he says he will also be present from time to time: “It’s going to be something extremely special. A place where we can hang out together.”
Aoki’s support for collecting Pokémon cards and similar items fits the current trend of “kidulting,” in which more adults, particularly millennials, are returning to toys and collecting hobbies. According to sociologist Dirk Gemein, speaking to the Frankfurter Rundschau, collecting figurines or cards is not only nostalgic and linked to the retro trend but also has psychological roots.
Toys represent reliability and connect people to their own life history.
Especially in the current global situation, toys and cards can provide a sense of stability. Activities such as assembling a toy car can also offer a break from constant screen time.
