Jean-Luc Mélenchon 2027 presidential campaign program and rally, Digi Mart USA News (France): France Insoumise (LFI) unveiled its new campaign poster and slogan on Friday, November 6, showing candidate Jean-Luc Mélenchon in front of a view of Gergovie in Auvergne under the words “Liberté, égalité, solidarité.” LFI, which is competing closely with the National Rally (RN) for the lead in the presidential race, will present its platform of 1,000 proposals at a rally in Le Bourget, Seine-Saint-Denis, on Saturday, November 7.
The program book, “L’avenir en commun” (éd. La Dispute), went on sale in French bookstores on November 6 at €4.90.
In the postface, Mélenchon states, “It is a whole new France that this program proposes to build.” According to people close to the candidate, the book had more than 10,000 advance orders and is expected to be printed in about 100,000 copies. In the previous campaign in 2022, 144,000 copies were sold, according to Le Monde.
According to BFMTV, LFI’s overall vision centers on ecological transition, the backbone of the program, and seeks to give citizens greater control over political power, notably through a popular initiative referendum (RIC) and the recall of elected officials. The plan would lay the groundwork for a Sixth Republic, based on a new Constitution drafted by an Assembly elected by referendum.
Mélenchon also proposes introducing compulsory voting, modeled on Belgium, and allowing 16-year-olds to vote. According to the program, this would add about 1.5 million voters.
On Europe, LFI has dropped the idea of withdrawing from the European Union in favor of “a right of objection to certain European policies.” According to the Huffington Post, the aim is to favor France over rules that would constrain its ecological transition or social programs.
