Fuel scam at Juvignac gas station near Montpellier, Digi Mart USA News (Juvignac, France): Fany says she went to the Intermarché gas station in Juvignac on Tuesday, November 3, between 7 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.
to buy €15 worth of fuel, but ended up paying €80 after helping a stranger.
According to her account, a young man of about 25 approached her with an empty canister while a small boy nearby was crying. He said he had no payment card and needed to take his son back to his mother, and Fany agreed to help in exchange for a few liters of diesel and a promised instant transfer through the Wero app.
Fany says that while she was holding the fuel nozzle, the man pressed down on her hand and continued pumping. The total bill reached €80, and the promised transfer never arrived.
“He abused my trust,” she said.
She says she has filed a complaint with the gendarmerie, and steps to obtain surveillance video footage are underway.
Her Facebook post drew many reactions. One user said many people, both men and women, ask for fuel at this station, and another said they saw a young man with a canister as early as 5 a.m.
Similar situations were also reported in Montarnaud and Le Crès, though no link between them has been established.
Fany, a consultant and personal-development trainer who says she works with France Travail and volunteers for several associations, including the Restos du Cœur and the Secours populaire, said she is mainly focused on a human and compassionate approach. Asked whether the experience will change how she helps others, she said no, but that she will be even more vigilant, asking more questions and taking her time.
