Jacob Rinne Djurgården contract extension, Digi Mart USA News: Jacob Rinne has been one of the best goalkeepers in Allsvenskan this season, and he is reportedly on the verge of extending his contract with Djurgården, according to Sportbladet.
In late August this year, Al Fateh made a new attempt to sign back Djurgården’s first-choice goalkeeper Rinne. At that time, the Swede made clear that his focus was solely on Djurgården.
“Yes, I knew about it. Then how concrete it is…
I know an inquiry has been made. Beyond that, there is nothing more.
I’m not going to complain about my situation now, everything feels good,” he said at the time.
The 33-year-old has been one of Allsvenskan’s best goalkeepers in 2026, keeping 13 clean sheets in 26 matches, and is a major reason Djurgården sit third in the league, six points behind league leaders Sirius.
According to Sportbladet, which says it has learned from several independent sources, the successful goalkeeper is now close to extending his current agreement with the club. The exact length of the extension is not stated in the reporting, but it is expected to be at least one additional year on the current deal, which runs through December 31, 2028.
Rinne signed a four-and-a-half-year contract with Djurgården in August 2024. Before that, he had made 64 appearances and spent two seasons at Al Fateh SC in Saudi Arabia.
Djurgården hope to have the new contract finalized within the next few weeks, although the reporting does not say when it is expected to be made official.
