Thomas Markle arrested by FBI on child sexual abuse material charges, Digi Mart USA News (United States): The 82-year-old father of Meghan Markle was arrested by the FBI at a care home in the United States, according to the office of the public prosecutor in Florida. Thomas Markle has been charged with possessing sexual abuse material involving children.
According to the prosecutor, the case also includes sexually explicit photographs of Markle himself with young girls. Authorities seized 78 items, ranging from slides and film material to books.
The material was reportedly found in two storage units near Los Angeles that Markle had rented for almost twenty years.
Markle has been placed under house arrest and must await the case with an ankle monitor at the care home. Last month, a son of Meghan Markle, reported as her brother, reportedly found footage of child abuse in a house belonging to their father in the Philippines.
He reportedly discovered a phone containing a 15-minute video of naked young girls and later found more disturbing material. He filed a report with Philippine police, who began an investigation and later confirmed the discovery of child pornography.
A separate investigation in Mexico is also reported. The British newspaper Daily Mail reported that material involving child sexual abuse was allegedly found in a storage unit registered in Markle’s name there.
Markle was recovering from a stroke at the Florida care home. According to the Daily Mail, the FBI carried out a raid there and took him away.
He was reportedly removed in a wheelchair with handcuffs on his wrists. If convicted, he could face a prison sentence of up to 20 years.
Meghan Markle, wife of Prince Harry, previously said she was “deeply saddened” by the news that her father allegedly possessed child pornography and that her thoughts were with the victims. Meghan Markle cut contact with her father long ago.
In 2018 she was reportedly informed of “disturbing and shocking allegations” about him.
