Regionalliga Erfurt Chemie Leipzig 2-0 win and Jena draw with BFC Preussen, Digi Mart USA News: Rot-Weiß Erfurt took a major step toward the autumn championship with a 2-0 win at Chemie Leipzig. Meanwhile, FC Carl Zeiss Jena was held to a 1-1 draw by BFC Preussen after technical problems disrupted its home match.
Erfurt pressed from the start, but the first chances belonged to the hosts. Erfurt goalkeeper Otto made a strong save at the angle in the eighth minute, and shortly afterward Tim Hoops narrowly missed the target.
Erfurt’s first big opportunity came just before halftime. Dustin Forkel broke through on the left but overlooked the completely free Stanislav Fehler and shot narrowly wide.
Almost immediately, Chemie had a huge chance when Willi Reinke headed directly into Otto’s arms after a cross from an offside-looking position.
After the break, Erfurt continued to press without reward at first. Then came a moment of alarm, as Chemie countered quickly and Kratzer shot from the right, but Otto reacted well.
Erfurt then struck back. Fehler played Hajrulla through, who initially lost the ball, won it back and drove to the byline.
Benjica Caciel coolly finished the pass to make it 1-0 in the 73rd minute.
Shortly before the end, Erfurt sealed the result. After a cross, substitute Robbie Felßberg pushed the ball in to make it 2-0 in the 86th minute.
At the Ernst-Abbe-Sportfeld, Jena did not win again. The team drew 1-1 with BFC Preussen on Friday evening, a result that was somewhat flattering to the hosts.
Kevin Lankford prevented a sixth league defeat of the season in the third minute of stoppage time, when he scored from the edge of the penalty area after a pass from Luca Wollschläger.
A total of 5,510 spectators attended. The match was nearly delayed, as the stadium’s complete public address system failed because of a software problem until 25 minutes before kickoff.
That system is essential for reaching all visitors in an emergency, and police had begun activating their own equipment before the stadium technology suddenly worked again.
BFC Preussen had taken the lead after seven minutes, when Ensar Aksakal scored from 11 meters after a mistake in Jena’s build-up play. That lead held until stoppage time, as Jena again lacked ideas in attack.
