Feria de Paz Atención a las Causas Juchitán, Digi Mart USA News (Juchitán de Zaragoza, Oaxaca, Mexico): Oaxaca Governor Salomón Jara Cruz led the launch of the Peace Fair “Attention to the Causes” in Juchitán de Zaragoza, an action coordinated with the government of President Claudia Sheinbaum.
The initiative is part of a coordinated strategy among federal, state and municipal governments to prevent violence, rebuild the social fabric and bring public services closer to families in the municipality. The governor said the day operates on a fundamental principle: addressing the motives behind violence and bringing government assistance directly to people.
Twenty-three agencies are participating, offering services and guidance in health, labor, paperwork, public services and social programs. Jara Cruz said, “Juchitán is not alone; here the federal and state governments are supporting and helping always on its path,” and thanked President Sheinbaum for her backing in building security and tranquility in the Zapotec community.
Carlos Rodrigo Cortés Chávez, director general of Coordination for Peace in the Federal Entities Zone 2 of the Secretariat of the Interior (Segob), said state and municipal governments are allies in carrying out these actions, addressing the causes of insecurity and providing social services and programs, mainly for young people, together with the Government of Mexico.
Municipal commissioner Francisco Vásquez Jiménez said peace is not built only with patrols, operations or greater police presence, but also requires education, health, employment, public services and opportunities. He said, “We come to add our wills and do what each of us is responsible for.”
Services offered during the day include medical care, dental consultations, vaccination, a mobile mammography unit, psychological and thanatological support, and affiliation with IMSS Bienestar. Attendees can also receive information on social programs, pensions for well-being, birth certificates, legal and labor advice, social work and services from the State Attorney General’s Office.
Attendees may also request haircuts, appliance repair, tree donations and information on recruitment by the Ministries of Defense and Navy and the National Guard.
