On Thursday, November 5, 2026, an Aer Lingus aircraft flying from Dublin, Ireland, to Rome, Italy, was forced to land at the Évreux military air base in the Eure department of France.

The French Air and Space Force accompanied the plane to the base.

According to Eure prosecutor Rémi Coutin, the Irish pilot initially refused to land at the base, preferring a civilian airport. Authorities and airlines have reported that several dozen European flights experienced similar threats on Thursday.

On Friday, November 6, 2026, new bomb threats were reported against other aircraft. Four of them were flying over French territory when the alerts occurred, according to the daily Le Parisien.

The Prime Minister’s office, Matignon, said they all landed without incident and that bomb disposal services were carrying out security inspections. Three aircraft landed at Orly, while the fourth landed in Bordeaux, according to Agence France-Presse (AFP).

France is not the only country affected. At least nine flights arriving at or departing from Prague Airport were also targeted by new threats, the airport said.

Spokesperson Denisa Hejtmankova said the threats concerned flights from Denmark, Spain and Great Britain, while departing flights were bound for the Netherlands, Cyprus, Romania, Italy and Great Britain.

A bomb alert was also reported aboard a Ryanair flight from Rome that landed in Lisbon, according to The Daily Mail on Friday, November 6, 2026. Hungarian Defense Minister Romulusz Ruszin-Szendi announced on social media that Hungarian fighter jets escorted three civilian flights that were targeted by bomb alerts while in Hungarian airspace.

Several English-language media outlets, including Sky News and RTÉ, were also targeted by bomb alerts on Friday. It is not known whether these threats are linked to those aimed at aircraft flying over Europe.
