The embargo for GTA 6 reviews lifts one day before launch, on November 18. Some reviewers received their codes late last month, and more are going out to gaming and technology news outlets over the next couple of weeks.
For the average consumer, there is no official early access. However, players who pre-order the digital version can download GTA 6 on November 10, nine days before its release.
The game will remain locked until November 19, but the pre-order allows players to be ready to play at midnight local time on launch day.
The game is reportedly 212 GB, so downloads could take hours depending on internet speed. Pre-ordering allows players to start the download early so they can begin playing the moment the game is officially released.
Some players have suggested changing a console’s region settings to New Zealand and connecting through a VPN to play about 18 hours earlier, on November 18. The source notes this approach as a workaround, and it is not an official early-access option.
