L20 road closure between Oranienburg and Hohen Neuendorf, Digi Mart USA News (Oranienburg and Hohen Neuendorf, Germany): The state road agency Landesbetrieb Straßenwesen has announced a closure of a section of the state road L20 lasting several weeks. Construction work begins Monday, November 9.
According to the agency, the L20 will be renewed from the large intersection between Oranienburg and Hohen Neuendorf to the entrance of Alt-Borgsdorf, in the direction of Pinnow and Velten. The roughly 450-meter section will be fully closed until about mid-December.
The large intersection, where the L20 meets county road K6504, will remain passable during the works, except in the direction of Pinnow and Velten.
The agency said the reason for the work is damage to the roadway, particularly to the traffic islands and paved gutters along the edge of the road. In addition to the road surface, these areas will also be repaired.
Barrier-free crossings will be created in Pinnow, and the city will bear those costs. The roadway will also be swept for explosive ordnance.
In Oranienburg, three bridges are to be renovated, which will lead to partly significant closures. Deutsche Bahn has released further details on the project “Oranienburg Bahnhof.”
Traffic toward Velten will officially be routed via Oranienburg and Germendorf. Traffic coming from Velten will also be detoured via Germendorf.
The agency said asphalt will be laid across the full width of the roadway. The works affect more than commuters.
According to the agency, the closed section is also impassable for police and emergency services during the works. Police and rescue services heading to Alt-Borgsdorf should use shortcuts via the access roads in front of Aldi on Alte Trift rather than the main detour.
The agency said parts of the traffic island at the village exit are already being renewed. This is expected to ease the construction process and traffic management for later work in the village.
Work on the village through-road over more than 1.1 kilometers is expected to start in 2027.
