Melvyn Jaminet France national team comments, Digi Mart USA News (France): Melvyn Jaminet has decided to distance himself from the French national rugby team. As he gradually regains his best form with Rugby Club Toulonnais, the French international fullback no longer wants to make a possible return to the Bleus an obsession.
The topic regularly comes up in discussions about the Toulon player, and each strong performance revives the possibility of seeing him in the French jersey again. Jaminet acknowledges that he finds this increasingly difficult to manage, especially since his international future does not depend solely on his sporting performances.
For the Toulon fullback, the priority is now to rediscover consistency and keep performing with his club. Although he is pleased to see some of his teammates join the French squad, he says he does not want to picture himself returning personally.
Speaking to Tribune Mayol, Jaminet explained why he now prefers to focus on RCT rather than the Bleus:
“My goal was to perform for the club. That has done me good.
Seeing the guys go off to the French team, I’m happy for them. I know the subject of the French team will always be put back on the table, but honestly, I don’t pay attention to it.
I’ll watch the matches on TV and that’s where it will end. I hope they win, simply.”
This desire to step back is partly explained by the repeated questions about his international situation. The Toulon player admits the subject has become difficult to address because it comes up so often in conversations.
The French international says he no longer wants to bear this constant pressure:
“People have talked about the French team so much to me that I find it hard to express myself on it, I’m asked about it so often. I don’t want it to become a burden for me and to become complicated.
I just want to enjoy the moment.”
Despite this distancing, Jaminet does not permanently close the door on the French team. The former Toulouse player says he will follow the Bleus’ upcoming matches with interest while avoiding picturing a possible call-up.
He notes that he would be fully committed if a new opportunity to wear the French jersey arose:
“I’ll be behind them watching the matches, and if one day I’m lucky enough to be called back, we can put the subject back on the table to discuss it. And I would then be 200% committed to that choice to play for the French team again.
I want to detach myself from that.”
The Toulon player also knows his situation goes beyond the purely sporting context. He refers in particular to statements by the president of the French Rugby Federation, whose position he believes has been clearly expressed.
Jaminet acknowledges that requests about his international future are constant and points to the Federation’s decisions:
“It’s not just the media who talk to me about the French team, it’s really everyone. As soon as I play a good match, people talk to me about the French team.
But I don’t make the choices, the president of the Federation has been fairly clear. Whether he will change or not, I don’t know.”
While awaiting a possible change in his situation, the fullback of the XV de la Rade has chosen to stop focusing on the coach’s upcoming squad lists. His aim is to make the most of his current momentum with Toulon without being disrupted by questions about his international future.
The RCT player summed up his current position while suggesting a change of decision could alter the situation:
“I’ve made up my mind that I’ll watch the French team on TV as a supporter. But if the decisions change…
For now, I’m moving away from this subject.”
