Pope Leo XIV possible visit to Mexico in summer 2027, Digi Mart USA News (Mexico City): A visit by Pope Leo XIV to Mexico could become a reality in the coming months, according to María Montserrat Alvarado, the new communications officer at the Vatican.
The visit is reportedly the result of the pope’s own desire to travel to Latin America, along with a personal invitation from Rosa Icela Rodríguez, head of the Secretaría de Gobernación, Mexico’s Interior Secretariat.
The trip is reportedly scheduled for summer 2027, after the June 6 elections. One of the sites the pope could visit is the Basilica Sanctuary of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Mexico City.
Pope Leo XIV’s visit would add to the seven trips to Mexico previously made by his predecessors, including Pope John Paul II, Pope Benedict XVI and Pope Francis.
