Mexico emergency backpack preparedness campaign, Digi Mart USA News (Mexico): Mexico’s National Civil Protection Coordination (CNPC) has clarified that its campaign to prepare an emergency backpack is part of its regular prevention activities. The agency said the campaign does not respond to an imminent disaster and is not related to alerts from other countries.
Social media users began noticing that several countries had recently asked residents to stockpile supplies or prepare emergency backpacks. Japan did so recently, though according to the report this is very common there because of its culture and constant risks such as tsunamis and typhoons.
In Mexico’s case, the country’s top civil protection and prevention authority said these campaigns are routine. The report noted that this explanation was needed because the campaign coincided with recent requests from other countries.
In its communiqué dated November 3, 2026 (Communiqué 412), the CNPC, part of the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC), said it permanently promotes actions and tools to strengthen the safety, well-being and preparedness of Mexican families for any eventuality. The emergency backpack campaigns and publications are part of routine outreach to build a strong culture of self-protection and shared prevention.
The guidance is distributed periodically together with state civil protection authorities, inviting the public to learn about basic self-care items and to calmly and early structure a Family Civil Protection Plan. The agency said the aim is to give citizens practical tools for daily life and household peace of mind.
An emergency backpack is a kit of basic items that allows a person or family to be prepared to respond to a risk situation or natural disaster, such as an earthquake, flood, fire or hurricane. Its purpose is to have the essentials for basic needs while support services arrive or safety conditions are restored.
The CNPC reiterated its commitment to accompany Mexican society with timely, constructive and close information to build increasingly prepared and resilient communities.
