Pope Leo XIV Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe visit Mexico, Digi Mart USA News (Mexico): Pope Leo XIV will visit the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Mexico, according to María Montserrat Alvarado, prefect of the Dicastery for Communication of the Holy See. She made the announcement on Tuesday but did not say when the trip would take place.

Speaking during the presentation of the pontiff’s tour of Uruguay, Argentina and Peru, Alvarado said, “The Holy Father will go to see Our Lady of Guadalupe.” The Mexican official, who is herself from Mexico, was asked about an estimated date but said the trip would be announced when the time comes.

For now, the visit to the Guadalupe shrine has no set date. The announcement came as preparations continued for the pope’s journey through the three South American countries from November 6 to 17.

Mexico is not part of that itinerary.

Alvarado took over the Communications prefecture on November 1. The Holy See announced her appointment on June 2, when she was president and chief operating officer of EWTN News.
