Cyril Hanouna Faces Complaint for Public Insult After Targeting Ouest-France Journalist, Digi Mart USA News: The Ligue de défense des valeurs républicaines (LDVR) has filed a complaint against French television host Cyril Hanouna, according to a report published by TV Magazine. The alleged offenses date back to October 20, when Hanouna spent considerable time discussing an article by a journalist from the Ouest-France group.

The journalist had just published a short investigation into how much airtime politics received on “Tout beau, tout neuf,” particularly after violence during the October 17 demonstrations, which was widely discussed on the talk show broadcast on W9. Visibly dissatisfied with the reporter’s work, Hanouna directly targeted him, saying he had “looked at his CV a little” and detailing the subjects the journalist had covered that relate closely or loosely to the host.

Hanouna then mockingly said that if the journalist wanted to meet him, it would be a pleasure, adding that they could take a selfie together and even with the journalist’s family, though he did not name the reporter. According to the LDVR, the segment generated a wave of cyberharassment against the journalist, the report said, citing the newspaper Le Parisien.

“We do not use one’s fame to harm others,” said Michael Bastien, president of the LDVR. The group filed the complaint on October 29 against Hanouna for “moral harassment by instigation,” “complicity in moral harassment,” “public defamation” and “public insult.” The report notes that the allegations have not been independently verified.

The Ouest-France group also defended its journalist in an article published on its website the previous week. The company said the reporter had scrupulously respected the rules of adversarial debate and that the channel had been invited to present its point of view.

The newspaper’s leadership said it would never accept this kind of intimidation.

The place of politics in “Tout beau, tout neuf” had been a major concern for the M6 group when Hanouna joined W9 in summer 2025, only months after the regulator Arcom shut down C8. In a June 2025 interview with CB News, M6 executive board chairman David Larramendy acknowledged “a number of unacceptable excesses” on C8’s “Touche pas à mon poste!” and said the group would not tolerate promotion of fake news, politicized discourse or ad hominem attacks, while promising the host considerable freedom for entertaining programming.
