DWP Christmas Bonus payments for people on 24 benefits, Digi Mart USA News (United Kingdom): The Department for Work and Pensions has confirmed that the Christmas Bonus will return in December 2026. The DWP will bring back the extra £10 payment for benefits claimants in the final month of the year.

The bonus is paid at a rate of £10 for recipients of 24 benefits. The DWP says that to receive a Christmas Bonus, you must be present or ordinarily resident in the UK, the Channel Islands, the Isle of Man or Gibraltar during the qualifying week, and you must receive at least one of the 24 qualifying benefits in that week.

Payments will be made from December 1, the DWP said. It described the Christmas Bonus as a one-off tax-free £10 payment made before Christmas to people who receive certain benefits in the qualifying week.

This is normally the first full week of December.

You do not need to claim the Christmas Bonus, as it should be paid automatically. If you believe you should receive it but have not by January 1, the DWP advises contacting the Jobcentre Plus office that handles your payments or the Pension Service.

Benefits, pensions and allowances are normally paid into an account, such as a bank account. The payment may appear as “DWP XB” on your bank statement.

The qualifying benefits listed by the DWP include Adult Disability Payment, Armed Forces Independence Payment, Attendance Allowance, Carer’s Allowance, Carer Support Payment, Child Disability Payment, Constant Attendance Allowance paid under Industrial Injuries or War Pensions schemes, and Contribution-based Employment and Support Allowance once the main phase is entered after the first 13 weeks of claim.

Other qualifying benefits include Disability Living Allowance, Incapacity Benefit at the long-term rate, Industrial Death Benefit for widows or widowers, Mobility Supplement, Pension Age Disability Payment, Pension Credit guarantee element, Personal Independence Payment (PIP), Scottish Adult Disability Living Allowance (SADLA), and Severe Disablement Allowance with transitional protection.

The list also includes State Pension, including Graduated Retirement Benefit, Unemployability Supplement or Allowance paid under Industrial Injuries or War Pensions schemes, War Disablement Pension at State Pension age, War Widow’s Pension, Widowed Mother’s Allowance, Widowed Parent’s Allowance and Widow’s Pension.
