Alcaraz, ranked No. 3 in the world, enters on a six-match winning streak after capturing the Vienna title last week. He opened his run in Paris with a 7-6, 6-3 win over Alex Michelsen before advancing when Matteo Berrettini withdrew with an elbow injury.
Fritz has faced a more demanding path. The American beat Benjamin Bonzi and Alex Molcan in three sets before defeating No. 7 Arthur Fils 6-3, 6-4.
His serve has been particularly effective, producing 37 aces against Molcan and another 14 against Fils.
The matchup also carries major implications for Fritz’s push to qualify for the ATP Finals. Another victory would put him in qualifying position, at least temporarily.
Alcaraz has controlled the rivalry, holding a 6-1 overall advantage. His most recent tour victory over Fritz came at the 2025 ATP Finals, where he rallied for a three-set win.
