Serhou Guirassy thigh injury Borussia Dortmund, Digi Mart USA News: Borussia Dortmund striker Serhou Guirassy (30) was forced off with an injury in the first half of the 2-1 win over Betis Sevilla. After about half an hour he went down and grabbed his thigh.

After treatment, Guirassy initially tried to continue, but in the 34th minute he had to leave the field for good. Konstantinos Karetsas (18) came on in his place and later scored Dortmund’s winning goal.

After the match, there was cautious relief. Coach Niko Kovac said he had spoken briefly with Guirassy, who felt his thigh.

“I think nothing is broken now. That is my first thought, or my feeling,” Kovac said.

He had not yet spoken with the doctor, and the team did not want to risk further play.

Kovac added that the team would wait for examinations the next day before deciding whether Guirassy could be available at the weekend or needs a longer break.

Sporting director Ole Book also gave supporters some hope. “It is a muscular injury.

But he still ran so fluidly that I have hope it is nothing major,” he said.

Guirassy left the stadium with a friend, Gadou, at 11:18 p.m. local time and got into a car.

Tests on Thursday are expected to show how serious the injury is. Dortmund’s Bundesliga home match against promoted Elversberg is scheduled for Saturday, but whether Guirassy can play remains uncertain.
