Stephen Miller named White House chief of staff, Digi Mart USA News: President Donald Trump announced Friday that White House chief of staff Susie Wiles will step down this week, with Stephen Miller replacing her. Trump said Miller, the current Deputy Chief of Staff and one of his most trusted advisors, will become chief of staff starting Monday, November 9, 2026.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump wrote that Wiles has “done an outstanding job” and will move over to the Trump Political Operation. He thanked her for her service as chief of staff.
Moments later, Wiles wrote in a post on X that Friday would be her last day as chief of staff. She said serving President Trump in the White House had been “the honor of a lifetime,” citing work on securing the border, cutting taxes, strengthening the economy and putting America First.
“While my role may be changing, my commitment to the President and the mission never will,” she wrote.
In mid-October, Trump said there was “zero chance” he was considering a replacement for Wiles, following reports from Politico and The Washington Post that she might step down after the election and that several aides, all men, were competing for the position.
Until now, Miller has served as White House deputy chief of staff for policy and as a homeland security adviser. He has played an integral role in the Trump administration, especially on its hard-line immigration and deportation policies.
Miller previously served as an adviser and director of speechwriting during Trump’s first term and spent years on Capitol Hill as an aide to Republican lawmakers.
