Texcoco new pumping station flood prevention Plan Oriente, Digi Mart USA News (Texcoco, State of Mexico): The Texcoco municipal government is maintaining efforts and coordination work with federal and state authorities to advance infrastructure projects under the Plan Oriente. Among them is the construction of a new pumping station intended to prevent flooding in four neighborhoods of the municipality.

Municipal President Nazario Gutiérrez Martínez took part in a working session held at the facilities of the National Water Commission (CONAGUA), where progress and monitoring mechanisms for projects under this strategy for the eastern zone of the State of Mexico were reviewed. Representatives of the Secretariat of Welfare, the Secretariat of the Interior, CONAGUA and the National Institute for Federalism and Municipal Development attended, along with municipal presidents from the region.

The meeting addressed transparency and oversight of the works, as well as coordination with the Superior Audit Office of the Federation to monitor the resources and projects that form part of the Plan Oriente. Armando Quintero Martínez, head of the National Institute for Federalism and Municipal Development, also participated in the coordination efforts among the different levels of government.

Gutiérrez said these forums allow dialogue between authorities and review of actions taken to address the needs of the population. “These spaces of dialogue and collaboration allow us to strengthen coordination among the different levels of government and to follow up on projects and actions for the benefit of Texcoco and the eastern region,” he said.

The mayor added that his administration continues seeking investments to improve living conditions for residents of the municipality. A supervision tour was also carried out at several sites where Plan Oriente works are underway, attended by federal government workers, CONAGUA personnel and municipal officials, including Lenin Adcel Ramírez Villanueva, local director of Potable Water and Sewerage; Miguel Ángel Olivares Gálvez, director of Public Works; and Juan José Domingo Sánchez Calixto, director of Sustainable Soil.

One project nearing its start is the construction of a new pumping station in the Tolimpa area, whose management allowed progress toward the bidding process for the work. According to project data, the infrastructure will have a capacity to remove up to 700 liters of water per second, aiming to reduce flood risks during the rainy season.

The work will benefit more than 20,000 residents of the Leyes de Reforma, Lomas de Cristo, Fray Servando Teresa de Mier and Villas Tolimpa neighborhoods, areas that could see better conditions for draining rainwater. The station represents one of the actions planned to address water management problems in the municipality, especially during rainy seasons when some communities face risks from water accumulation.

The project is part of the Plan Oriente, promoted by Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo and State of Mexico Governor Delfina Gómez Álvarez, which seeks to strengthen infrastructure and public services in the municipalities of this region.
