Teoloyucan Residents Propose Mexico-Querétaro Train Station Site in Santa María Caliacac

Teoloyucan station proposal for Mexico-Querétaro train: A neighborhood committee has submitted a technical study to federal authorities recommending Santa María Caliacac as the most viable location for a station, citing open land within the right-of-way and the potential benefit to nearby municipalities.

Teoloyucan station proposal for Mexico-Querétaro train, Digi Mart USA News (Teoloyucan, State of Mexico): After a progress report on the Mexico-Querétaro train project disclosed that a station in Teoloyucan is under consideration, the neighborhood committee Salvemos Teoloyucan said it had delivered a study to federal authorities on possible station sites, given space conditions and land availability within the right-of-way.

Committee member Javier Grimaldo explained that, as part of its request to the federal government to include a station in Teoloyucan, the group conducted a technical study analyzing three possible locations: one at the boundary with Cuautitlán México, another in central Teoloyucan, and a third near Coyotepec.

The analysis identified Santa María Caliacac as the most viable alternative, because the area has wide spaces and unoccupied land within the right-of-way, which would allow the federal government to make the adjustments needed to develop the rail infrastructure. Grimaldo said the first proposal contemplated a simple stop, but after reviewing the possible locations, the group determined that a full station was also feasible.

According to Grimaldo, the study was delivered together with more than 10,000 signatures collected by the committee. The study also considered the station’s area of influence, which could benefit residents of Cuautitlán México, Coyotepec, Huehuetoca, Melchor Ocampo, Teoloyucan, Tepotzotlán, Jaltenco and Zumpango, which together total 922,023 inhabitants according to the 2020 Population and Housing Census.

Grimaldo said that although the station has not yet been authorized, having it on the table is a major achievement, allowing officials to analyze whether a station in Teoloyucan is feasible.

Following this progress, Salvemos Teoloyucan said technical roundtables with the Secretaría de Infraestructura, Comunicaciones y Transportes (SICT) will be reinstated, where the group hopes to present its proposals again and follow up. The committee also said it will hold public informational meetings to keep residents informed and continue pushing for the station’s construction in the municipality.
