Sheinbaum VIP lounge AICM privileges Ramírez Marín, Digi Mart USA News (Mexico City): Following controversy over an inquiry from the vice president of the Senate of the Republic, José Carlos Ramírez Marín, about the VIP lounges at Mexico City International Airport (AICM), President Claudia Sheinbaum says senators and deputies should not have privileges simply because they hold public office.

During her morning press conference on Tuesday, November 3, the President of Mexico was asked about a document sent to the Secretariat of Foreign Affairs (SRE) seeking to clarify the rules for using the Protocol Lounge at the AICM. The question took another direction when it was understood that the Chamber of Senators was requesting access to the lounge.

Amid the confusion, Sheinbaum said that rather than sanctioning the technical secretary who sent the document to the SRE, it must be made clear that her administration does not provide special benefits to officials.
