Pope Leo XIV Uruguay visit Our Lady of Guadalupe parish, Digi Mart USA News (Montevideo, Uruguay): Vatican spokesman Matteo Bruni has clarified that Pope Leo XIV has not confirmed any visit to Mexico in the coming months.
The clarification followed press reports that assumed Robert Francis Prevost would visit the Basilica of Guadalupe during his upcoming trip to South America.
Bruni told reporters that during the apostolic visit to Uruguay, which begins in a few days, Pope Leo XIV will visit the Parroquia de Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe, known as the Casavalle church, but not the Basilica of Guadalupe in Mexico, the second most visited Marian shrine in the world.
The Parroquia de Casavalle, located in the city of Montevideo, is dedicated to the Virgin of Guadalupe.
