During her morning press conference, Sheinbaum explained that the program includes 12 axes focused on security, education, health, housing, infrastructure and support for the countryside.

Members of the federal cabinet took part in the presentation, including Rosa Icela Rodríguez, Secretary of the Interior; Mario Delgado, Secretary of Public Education; Columba López, of Agriculture; and Alicia Bárcena, of Environment, who presented progress in their respective areas.

One year after the killing of Uruapan mayor Carlos Manzo Rodríguez, Sheinbaum highlighted progress in the investigations and arrests related to the case. She also announced that next Tuesday her press conference will be devoted to reporting on security and justice in Michoacán, where, she said, crime rates have declined.

“It is everyday work; what matters is that the people of Michoacán know that the Mexican government is present in all of the state’s municipalities,” she said.

On education, it was reported that 795,717 students in primary, secondary, high school and university receive scholarships, with an investment of 5,700 million pesos. In addition, 10,000 additional high school places and 7,000 higher education places are projected.

Six mixed-investment road projects and 80 rural roads are under development. Work to connect the Zinapécuaro Well-Being Hub by road is expected to begin, while cleanup work on Lake Pátzcuaro continues.

Support for the countryside includes 1,103 credits for producers of lime, mango, sugarcane and berries, as well as 9,522 beneficiaries growing corn. The report also cited the collection of 63,014 tons of this grain and 1,034 tons of lentils.

Through Sembrando Vida, 177,453 farmers receive support.

Health works include construction of an IMSS hospital in Zitácuaro and rehabilitation of medical units in Lázaro Cárdenas, Charo and La Piedad. IMSS-Bienestar completed a toxicology clinic in Apatzingán and a mental health and addiction center in Huetamo.

The housing program reports the contracting of 19,305 homes toward a goal of 82,000 for Michoacán. The Programs for Well-Being also have more than 1 million beneficiaries.

Regarding the avocado sector, Sheinbaum said there is coordination with producers, agro-exporters and U.S. authorities to guarantee exports and advance labor and environmental measures.
