Yeraldine Bonilla resigns as Sinaloa Secretary General of Government, Digi Mart USA News (Sinaloa, Mexico): Yeraldine Bonilla Valverde submitted her resignation as Secretary General of Government of Sinaloa, a post she held during the administration of Rubén Rocha Moya. She became the first woman to govern the state when the governor requested leave from his duties.
Her departure took effect on Wednesday, November 4, as part of changes made by interim governor Graciela Domínguez Nava, who named César Julio Saucedo Barrón as the new official in charge of Sinaloa’s internal politics.
Bonilla had been appointed Secretary General of Government in October 2024 by Rubén Rocha Moya, becoming the first woman to head that state agency. Her recent career was marked by changes in the executive branch.
On May 2, 2026, the State Congress designated her interim governor of Sinaloa after Rocha Moya requested his first leave of absence. With that designation, Bonilla Valverde became the first woman to assume the governorship of Sinaloa, a role she held during the governor’s temporary absence.
After Rocha Moya returned to his duties, Bonilla resumed her post as Secretary General of Government. She remained in that position even after the State Congress named Graciela Domínguez Nava interim governor following a new leave request by the governor.
In a statement addressed to the public, Bonilla Valverde confirmed her separation from the post and thanked those who placed their trust in her during her service in the Sinaloa government.
“Today politics demands, as never before, skill, dedication and a great deal of consistency. We will continue along the path of transformation, as always,” she said.
The former official also described her time as interim governor as one of the most significant moments of her political career.
“Sinaloa is a wonderful state. Having been the first female governor has been the highest honor of my life.
I gave all my effort and energy in those months that allowed me to serve the people of Sinaloa,” she said.
In her farewell, she thanked Rubén Rocha Moya for naming her Secretary General of Government and wished Graciela Domínguez Nava success in leading the state.
Following Bonilla Valverde’s resignation, the interim governor named César Julio Saucedo Barrón as the new Secretary General of Government. A fisheries biologist, he has experience in state and federal public administration.
He has served as a local deputy, undersecretary of Fisheries and Aquaculture of Sinaloa, director of the Sinaloa Aquaculture and Fisheries Institute, and an official of the National Aquaculture and Fisheries Commission (Conapesca).
Saucedo Barrón will be responsible for directing the state’s internal politics, as well as coordinating institutional relations between the executive branch, the municipalities and other public powers.
