Morena demands investigation into INE electoral contracts and former councilors, Digi Mart USA News (Mexico): In a statement, Morena called for a formal investigation into contracts exceeding 2 billion pesos awarded to companies linked to a single corporate group by local electoral authorities.
The party says this allocation scheme operated over 27 years and concentrated financial operations during the period when Lorenzo Córdova Vianello headed the National Electoral Institute (INE). Morena requested that former councilors Lorenzo Córdova, Ciro Murayama Rendón and former executive secretary Edmundo Jacobo Molina appear publicly to explain the oversight and control mechanisms used to prevent the concentration of commercial agreements during their tenures.
The statement stresses the need to audit both past administrations and current administrations of the collegiate body, without exceptions. According to the party’s document, the legal reform derived from the Pacto por México centralized the designation of state electoral authorities in the national body.
Morena argues that this centralized power facilitated the recurring distribution of public resources through awards to one specific business consortium that operated for nearly three decades.
The statement also links promoters of the Marea Rosa mobilizations to the emergence of the SOMOS political project, a platform where opposition party leaders and former administrative officials of the electoral referee coincide. Morena says these actors defend institutional immunity while financial files remain without a final ruling or external audits.
The ruling party stated that the autonomy of constitutional autonomous bodies should not be used to block budgetary reviews or to avoid transparency in the handling of public funds. It added that accountability strengthens the democratic system, which rests primarily on the volunteer work of citizens who staff polling stations and on permanent operational personnel.
The administrative review request seeks to identify those who authorized, supervised and received direct benefits from contract awards made from the 2006 and 2012 elections through the most recent administrations.
